چکیده

This paper proposes a new feature point detector which uses a wedge model to characterize corners by their orientation and angular width. This detector is compared to two popular feature point detectors: the Harris and SUSAN detectors, on the basis of some defined quality attributes. It is also shown how feature points between widely separated views can be matched by using the information provided by the detector to approximate local affine transformations between them. 2004 Elsevier Inc. Multi-Scale Image Registration Algorithm based on Improved SIFT

This paper proposes an image registration algorithm based on improved SIFT feature. In the feature detection, evenly distributed feature points are detected using non-maximum suppression and reduces detection times by dynamic adjustment of detecting step. While employs feature matching, the threshold of Euclidean distance ratio is adaptively determined according to the properties of images. Las...

Performance Evaluation of Local Detectors in the Presence of Noise for Multi-Sensor Remote Sensing Image Matching

Automatic, efficient, accurate, and stable image matching is one of the most critical issues in remote sensing, photogrammetry, and machine vision. In recent decades, various algorithms have been proposed based on the feature-based framework, which concentrates on detecting and describing local features. Understanding the characteristics of different matching algorithms in various applications ...

Detecting Faces in Color Images Using an Adaptive Color Model and Salient Features

Face detection has many interesting applications such as a face recognition system, a surveillance system, and videolimage indexing system. In this paper, we propose a new method of face detection using an adaptive skin color model and salient features. First, we detect skin color segments by adjusting threshold window in HueSaturation(HS) subspace based on the distribution of color histogram. ...

Evaluation of Similarity Measures for Template Matching

Image matching is a critical process in various photogrammetry, computer vision and remote sensing applications such as image registration, 3D model reconstruction, change detection, image fusion, pattern recognition, autonomous navigation, and digital elevation model (DEM) generation and orientation. The primary goal of the image matching process is to establish the correspondence between two ...

Detecting Keypoints with Stable Position, Orientation, and Scale under Illumination Changes

Local feature approaches to vision geometry and object recognition are based on selecting and matching sparse sets of visually salient image points, known as ‘keypoints’ or ‘points of interest’. Their performance depends critically on the accuracy and reliability with which corresponding keypoints can be found in subsequent images. Among the many existing keypoint selection criteria, the popula...

Detecting and Reconstructing 3D Mirror Symmetric Objects

We present a system that detects 3D mirror-symmetric objects in images and then reconstructs their visible symmetric parts. Our detection stage is based on matching mirror symmetric feature points and descriptors and then estimating the symmetry direction using RANSAC. We enhance this step by augmenting feature descriptors with their affinedeformed versions and matching these extended sets of d...
